Penryn

|
| Penryn was once a little quarry town that produced some to the highest
quality granite in the state. The granite carved out of the earth
here was commissioned for classic structures throughout Northern
California including the California State Capitol, Stanford University,
Alcatraz and the San Francisco Mint. After the granite mining
industry began to wane, fruit trees began sprouting up and Penryn became a
fruit producing area along with Newcastle, Loomis and Rocklin.
Penryn is now a bedroom community of about 3300 people with a post
office, school and a few shops and businesses scattered along its hilly
roads where remnants of old orchards can still be seen.
It is an easy commute to Roseville and Rocklin to the high tech
employers, a 30 mile commute to downtown Sacramento. The homes are
mostly on larger pieces of land and you don't see track developments
throughout Penryn. The lifestyle is kick-back and the residents
enjoy an easy drive to Folsom Lake, Lake Tahoe or the many other lakes,
rivers and streams in the area. The softly rolling foothills climb
up to the many ski areas along highway 80.
